Empowering Communities Through Gender Initiatives and Community Development

Sustainable Livelihoods

CGCDZ’s Sustainable Livelihoods Program is dedicated to
eradicating poverty and inequalities within communities by fostering
opportunities for economic growth and enhancing standards of living. The primary objective is to empower communities, particularly women, to achieve economic stability and self-sufficiency.

The program comprises three key components:
Economic Empowerment Activities: These include entrepreneurship training and mentorship, skills development in business management and financial literacy, and support for income-generating activities such as fish farming, grinding mills, and peanut butter making.
Capacity Building: This component offers vocational training in technical business skills, bookkeeping, conflict management, business planning, and market access.
Community Development: Focuses on infrastructure support, including the installation of solar-powered boreholes, irrigation systems, and the establishment of gardens.

Climate change (Climate Resilience and Adaptation)

CGCDZ is committed to enhancing community resilience to climate-related shocks and stresses. Our climate change initiative adopts a two-pronged approach, focusing on mitigation and adaptation strategies. Through mitigation, we promote sustainable use and preservation of natural resources. Adaptation efforts Involve promoting sustainable farming practices, such as conservation agriculture, agroforestry, and growing traditional, climate-resilient grains. Additionally, we implement climate-smart agriculture techniques, enhance water harvesting and management, and support climate-resilient livelihoods.
Our objectives are to enhance community resilience to climate-related disasters, promote sustainable natural resource management, and improve food security and livelihoods. To achieve these goals, we employ strategies such as capacity building and training for communities, technology transfer and innovation, and community-led initiatives and participation.
Ultimately, our climate change initiative aims to yield tangible outcomes, including increased resilience to climate-related shocks, reduced vulnerability to natural disasters, improved agricultural productivity, and enhanced livelihoods and food security. By supporting climate change mitigation and adaptation efforts, CGCDZ works towards protecting the environment, improving livelihoods, and ensuring a sustainable future for communities..

The Centre’s work has truly transformed our community, providing hope and empowerment to women everywhere.

Gender and social inclusion

CGCDZ is committed to promoting gender-inclusive development and social cohesion within communities. Our program prioritizes the inclusion of marginalized and vulnerable groups, ensuring equal access to resources, services, and opportunities. To achieve this, we have set four key objectives: addressing gender inequalities and promoting social justice, enhancing the participation and empowerment of women and girls, reducing gender-based violence within families and communities, and fostering social cohesion and community unity.
To realize these objectives, we employ strategies such as capacity building and training on gender and social inclusion, community sensitization and awareness campaigns, support for women-led initiatives and entrepreneurship, and collaboration with local authorities and stakeholders. Our expected outcomes include increased participation of women in decision-making processes, reduced gender-based violence and discrimination, improved access to economic opportunities, enhanced social cohesion and community unity, and empowerment of marginalized and vulnerable groups.
Our focus areas encompass women’s economic empowerment, education and skills development, and community engagement and participation. By prioritizing gender and social inclusion, CGCDZ strives to create a more equitable and just society where all individuals have equal opportunities to thrive.
